Curly Hair Routine for 3b curls

Over the years my curly hair routine has changed drastically. I’ve used all kinds of products and spent so much money to get the kind of results I wanted. Finally I have achieved a hair routine that I love. Today I will be going over my curly hair routine for you guys.

Curly hair can be time intensive for many people, myself included. My goal when creating my curly hair routine was to simplify my styling process and retain as much length as I could. I would layer so many products that I thought I needed but I simply ended up with product build up and limp curls.

Hair Goals

Before I created my curly hair routine, I first created hair goals. To build a curly hair routine. You need to understand your hair needs and your personal goals for your hair. Do you want longer hair, thicker hair, less frizz, more volume? These are all factors I had to consider before creating my haircare routine.

Once I figured out my hair goals I started looking for products that would help me those hair goals. This led me to my favorite brands Act and Acre and Olaplex.

These products have completely changed my hair for the better. If you want to read my review on both of them click the links. In these review I explain in-depth about every single product that I use and all of their ingredients.

Curly Hair Routine Step 1

My curly har routine starts with good scalp care in my prepoo step. I first start off with the Act and Acre scalp detox treatment. This is an oil based pre cleanse oil treatment that gently breaks down sebum, removes buildup and restores balance to the scalp.

This a very soothing scalp treatment that is great for anyone that has normal or dry scalp. I typically like to leave that on my scalp for about 10 minutes.

While applying this oil treatment I use this time to detangle my hair with a wide tooth wooden comb (which as completely changed my life for the better) followed by a nice scalp massage using the act and acre scalp gua sha tool. This oil has great slip for my hair so I also like to use this on the lengths of my hair as well.

This is where my beloved Olaplex comes in. While keeping my hair saturated in the oil, I then use the Olaplex number 0 and 3. I usually leave this on overnight. The next morning in I then use the Act and Acre shampoo and conditioner.

This is my most favorite shampoo and conditioner that I have ever used in my life. Having a good shampoo and conditioner is key for having healthy hair and scalp.

Curly Hair Routine Step 2

The act and Acre hair cleanse is a plant-derived formula that gently removes residue while balancing the natural moisture of the scalp. This cleanser is free of sulfate, silicone, paraben, phthalate, petroleum and synthetic fragrance and so much more.

This shampoo paired with the scalp detox helped to remove all of the product build up I had from years of layering so much heaving styling products. I usually cleanse my hair 2-3 times in order to get my really good cleanse.

After cleansing I use the Act and Acre moisture balancing conditioner. This conditioner makes my hair feel like butter. It is a lightweight yet rich conditioner made of plant oils that instantly delivers weightless, lasting hydration. Just like the shampoo it is free of sulfates, silicone, and many other things that can damage our delicate curls.

Curly Hair Routine Step 3

Step three is all about masking. I typically use 2-3 hair masks a week depending on what my hair needs that particular week. I consistently use the number 8 bond intense moisture mask from Olaplex. This hair mask moisturizes, smooths, and adds shine and body to my hair.

It is also formulated with the infamous Olaplex patented hair bonding formula. I usually like to leave this in my hair for about 30 minutes and rinse out.

I then follow this up with the Act and Acre Restorative conditioning hair mask. This conditioner is packed with proteins, vitamins, fatty acids an antioxidants that delivers lasting moisture to dry damaged hair. This mask has made my hair extremely soft And silky to the touch.

Curly Hair Routine Step 4

Last but not least is step four. This is all about my styling. As you can see ( or more like read) I do a lot of prep work prior to styling my hair. This is something that has drastically changed in my hair routine. I now focus much more on scalp care and using higher quality deep conditioners that will do a lot of the prep work for me. When styling my hair I only use two products. The number 6 and 7 from Olaplex. The number 6 bond smoother is a leave-in styling treatment that adds moisture, strengthens and reduces frizz for up to 72 hours. This product is truly my holy grail styling product. It has reduced my frizz significantly. I then pair this with the number 7 bonding oil. This oil is dramatically increases shine, softness and color vibrancy. I also love this oil because it provides UV/heat protection of up to 450 degrees F. Many people underestimate the damage that the natural elements can do to our hair and this oil helps to protect m hair form that.

I usually like to then put my hair in two braids or twists and clip it up using a claw clip. This helps to keep my hair detangles and moisturized until my next wash day. All in all styling my hair usually takes about 10-15 min max which was amazing compared to the 3 hours I use to spend styling my hair before.

What kind of hair do you have and how do you style it? Let me know in the comments down below. Until next time! Xoxo.
