Like many others, I have dreamed of long beautiful hair for many years. I always thought that I was doing everything right. Deep conditioning my hair, doing an oil treatment, using only natural ingredients in my hair etc.. After many years I have finally dug into the root cause of why I wasn’t seeing hair growth and over the past year have finally seen my hair be what i’ve always wanted it to be. Today I'll be going over what not to do in order to have healthy hair.

  1. One of the biggest reasons why many people do not see hair growth is because they are not consistent. Consistency truly is key when it comes to growing long hair. Find a routine with the right products that work for you and stick with it for at least 3 months to if what your doing is effective.

  2. Not focusing enough on scalp care. This tip was a game changer for me. I would always focusing on the length of my hair too much and not enough on my scalp. Our hair grows from our scalp and receives the most nutrients from our scalp. Having a healthy scalp is vital for healthy hair. Having a good scalp routine actually reduced my styling time and how much products I use.

  1. Eat more protein. Several studies have found that eating protein can reduce hair loss. Our hair is made up of a protein called keratin and is considered to be a protective protein. Increasing your protein intake may be able to help grow your hair.

  2. Take a good supplement. Today it is incredibly difficult to consume all of our nutritional needs in our diet and so taking a good supplement comes in handy. A good supplement can fill in the gaps in your diet which has a huge impact on the growth and overall health of your hair.

One thing to keep in mind is that our bodies are quite responsive and work in a cause and effect manner. Hair can stop growing or grow slowly due to many factors including bad techniques, wrong products, imbalanced hormones, stress, age, diet etc..

To fix this focus on one area at a time. Often times if you have one of these issues it will result in more than one symptom. Stress for example can cause your hormones to become imbalanced which can cause a decrease in having a healthy diet. Focusing on one problem may in fact solve many.

  1. Scalp massages are so important in my routine. Massing your scalp helps to increase the circulation and blood flow to your scalp which drives a lot of nutrients to your hair follicles which helps to increase hair growth.

  2. Rosemary oil has been scientifically proven to be just as effective as minoxidil in growing your hair. Rosemary oil works to speed up hair growth and can work as a natural remedy to grow thicker hair. Since it is inflammatory it can be used to prevent hair loss as well as increase regrowth.

Conclusion

These are just a few of the mistakes i’ve committed and learned from throughout the years of caring for my natural hair. Changing my habits has truly improved my hair tremendously. Some of these tips I will going more in depth in another blog post so make sure to check back in.
