Olaplex has been distrusting the hair industry with innovative products that truly rebuilds the hair and brings it back to health. It’s all started back in 2014 with the now patented ingredient that changed it all. Known as the ‘’invention’’ the Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate ingredient that allowed professionals to reach new heights in color and care.

Hair was no longer just healthier; it took on a completely different quality that made your hair look brighter, more radiant and vibrant. This changed the game for hairstylist and today everyone can have a taste of these life changing products.

Sustainability

If you’ve been reading on my blog for a while or follow my social media, you know that I try to be as eco friendly as possible with my purchases. A big part of my purchases is y haircare products and Olaplex is a brand that is devoted to developing and maintaining sustainable products with environmental, social, and economic benefits while protecting public health and the environment over the entire lifecycle.

Olaplex does this by reducing their carbon footprint. They have saved 27MM gallons of water. They have prevented 17MM pounds of GHG (greenhouse gases) from being emitted into the environment and have saved 21K trees from being cut down. All of Olaplex products are cruelty-free, non-toxic, paraben free, sulfates free, phthalates free, and phosphates free. Olaplex formulas promote wellness in your hair without threatening the environment.

Olaplex Science

Olaplex is a revolutionary haircare brand for all hair types. It is a product that noticeably repairs extreme damaged hair by rebuilding the disulfide bonds in your hair from the inside out. These bonds are what holds the keratin proteins in our hair together. It is what gives our hair its shape, texture, strength and elasticity. Do not confuse this with a protein treatment. I will make another post explaining the difference as well. 

Olaplex works on a molecular level to repair all kinds of damage such as heat, coloring/bleaching, perms/relaxers, brushing/combing, and even damage from the sun and cold weather conditions. The more you use it the better your hair gets. This is all thanks to one ingredient. Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Once all the bonds are intact and in alignment you have healthy, shiny hair.

Olaplex number 0

This product contains the most concentrated amount of the patented bond builder, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate and is meant to be used together with number 3. It acts as a primer for a deeper repair with number 3. It primes the hair for deeper repair, hair bonding and hair strengthening. It is in the form of a liquid that you apply before applying the number 3 on top. I noticed how much more repair my hair receives with this product in combination with number 3. Over time my hair has improved in manageability.

Olaplex number 3

The N0 3 is the #1 best selling Olaplex product. It is a weekly at-home treatment, not a conditioner, that reduces breakage and visibly strengthens hair improving its look and feel. It is PH balanced with a balance of 3.5-5. It works all kinds of wonder for your hair. This product helps to visibly repair, damaged, dry hair and turn it into shiny, soft, healthy hair. I love to use this product as my pre poo. I’ve noticed a huge difference in how much hair I lose when using this product. My hair much shinier less prone to breakage due to all the repair that this product does.

Olaplex Number 6

This product like all the other contain the patented bond builder ingredient which helps to repair the bonds of your hair from the inside out. This product is a leave-in reparative styling treatment. N0 6 smooths, conditions and strengthens without adding hold or excess weight. It is a highly concentrated formula for all hair types including dry, grey, colored, and chemically treated hair. It is for all textures from straight to coils, from fine to thick.

This product is supposed to speed up blow dry time while smoothing, softly defines and smooths air dried curls and reduces frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours. My experience with this product has absolutely been magical with a few exceptions. For reference I have fine high porosity curly type 3a-3b hair with straight-ish roots. This product does not weigh my hair down at all and definitely reduces the amount of frizz I would typically have on day 1 or 2 but I unfortunately can’t get to day 3 without frizz popping up but alas, that is the beauty of having curly hair. I no longer have to use gel because of how defined my curls are with this cream. I end up with beautiful, shiny, bouncy fluffy curls with just one product.

Olaplex number 7

This product is a highly-concentrated, weightless reparative styling oil. It dramatically increases shine, softness, and color vibrancy while minimizing flyaways and frizz. It repairs damaged and compromised hair, strengthens and protects hair structure and restores healthy appearance and texture.

I found all of these claims to be true. I was absolutely shocked the first time I used this oil with how soft and shiny my hair was. It was as if I went to the salon and got a treatment done. I was actually able to notice how shiny my hair is which was a huge goal of mine to achieve with my curly hair. Curly hair is naturally quite dry and dull because of its dryness. This oil instantly gave me the shine that I was looking for. Consistent use of this oil on my ends every night actually decreased the amount of hair I would lose and during wash day.

Olaplex number 8

This product, along with all Olaplex products is infused with the Olaplex patented bond building technology. This hair mask is a highly concentrated multi-benefit reparative hair mask. It adds shine, body, and smoothness while also providing intense moisture to repair dry damaged hair. Based on clincal results this products results in 2x the shine, 4x the moisture, 6x the smoothness and 94% saw more body in their hair.

This masks actually makes it quite easy for my hair to be detangled. It honestly feels like butter in my hair. My hair is softer and shinier as well and not weighed down at all.

My Results

I’ve used these three olaplex products for over 7 months now. It has completely changed my hair for the better. I use less product to style my hair, in fact I only use the N0 6 styling leave-in treatment and the N0 7 reparative bonding oil to style my hair now as opposed to the conditioner, two hair creams and hair gel that I used to use. I’ve yet to try all of the olaplex products but once I do, I will come back and update this post.
